George, the senior member, was born in Goose Bay, Labrador but his ancestral home was located at
Seperation Point, at the mouth of the Eagle River, 25 miles to the northwest of Cartwright. He lived there
year round for 8 years from the time of his birth until the family Goose Bay in 1956. George returned to
the Sandwich Bay area for the next 10 summers visiting his aunts and uncles at their summer homes and
fishing stations along the Labrador Coast. George finished high school and went to work with Transport
Canada in December 1966 and in 1970 switched to Canada Post. He retired in 2001 to spend more time
at this tourism business which he and the other members of his family began in 1999/2000. He has
always desired to be near the water and in 1997 obtained instruction in Coastal Navigation and
sailboating, buying a sailboat of his own in 1998. He returned to the Sandwich Bay area in 2000 and,
with his wife and son set up routes and trip plans for the business.

while living in Toronto in the 90's, volunteered with Track III working on the ski slopes with challenged
inner-city young people. He began canoeing before he began school and had formal instruction by age
eight. He began his training in kayaking in 2000. Canoeing was a hobby, now kayaking and camping in
Labrador is his way of life. Tom has certification in BCU and CRCA kayaking as well as Wilderness First
