Trip Itinerary
This soft adventure journey in an open boat leaves every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday during the months of July and August. We can also customize to meet your schedule.
We will pick you up at your B&B or Hotel for an 8:30 meeting at the Kayak Shack and will be packed and on the water by 11am for our journey to the Wonderstrand, Packs Harbour, Pigeon Cove, Prisoner's Island, Dumplin Harbour, and Indian Harbour.
We will also visit the Archaeological dig at Snack Cove and will search for a hidden cache on Hare Island. You can have your photo taken inside a rock house and camp on the sandy shores or on the caribou moss just inside the shore line.
Over the three days we will journey by open boat in the Labrador Sea where Aboriginal people paddled and sailed for thousands of years as they traded along the North American Coast. We will visit the Wonderstrand, which has been written about in the Viking Sagas and Packs Harbour where there once was one of Labrador's biggest summer fishing industries. We will also camp along the shore lines where archaeological exploration is uncovering artifacts from our ancestors 4000 years ago. Finally, we will visit Cartwright Island to see the remnants of a rock house that legends claim has been built by the European visitors or the Aboriginal people thousands of years ago.
Complete details of the trip, including clothing checklist and charts will be provided upon booking.
