Kayak Day Paddles
The kayak day trips extend from Cartwright Harbour to some of the local islands and coves near the entrance to Sandwich Bay. Beginners to expert paddlers can join our BCU and Canadian Paddle Certified Guides for an enjoyable day of paddling along the Labrador shoreline.
The Inuit paddled along the Labrador shores from their most northern dwellings to the eastern seaboard of the United States. The local area was one of their meeting places as they traded food and tools. You can experience this historic location as you paddle along the shores of Sandwich Bay.

As you look northward you will be able see, between the islands, the expanse of the Atlantic Ocean. For a short period of time you can pretend you are following our ancestors as they kayaked these waters in search of food and trade. The Labrador Sea
We invite you to join us on a leisurely six hour guided tour of the coastal waters of the Labrador Sea. This tour will take you along the coast south of Cartwright Harbour paddling for two hours. A fantastic experience for beginners and intermediate paddlers and a sight-seeing trip for those who have hours of paddling under their belt but no time for a multi-day tour with us. This tour is designed to create an enjoyable kayaking experience to connect you with nature in a land where our ancestors lived for thousands of years. You will see a variety of ocean flora. The kelp along the shoreline is among the highest rated in nutrient value in the world. You will also see many different species of sea birds, possibly puffins; whales and seals; and the many icebergs that usually drift south each year. There are also interesting geological formations where the land meets the sea. We will stop on a sandy shore for a snack, where you can stretch your legs and a take in a little bit of sea shore exploration. These shores have many a story to tell.
