Meet the Team
Experience Labrador is a family owned and operated professional outdoor adventure tour company located in Cartwright, Labrador, Canada.
 
George Barrett, the senior member, was born in Goose Bay, Labrador but his ancestral home was located at Seperation Point, at the mouth of the Eagle River. George finished high school and went to work with Transport Canada in December 1966 and in 1970 switched to Canada Post. In 1997 he obtained instruction in Coastal Navigation and sailboating. He is certified with the Canadian Power and Sail Squadron as a pleasure craft operator and instructor, and is also certified in Wilderness Medicine.
 
Pete Barrett (Peyton Barrett who prefers to be called Pete) has an Education Degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland, and a Business Education Diploma. Pete is a certified Small Business Counselor and works as a Business Development Consultant in the off season. She has a number of art diplomas and owns her own studio, Mealy Mountain Gallery/Fantasy Studios, where she demonstrates and instructs the craft tours when she's not kayaking. Her kayak certification is BCU and Canadian levels. She was also a Red Cross Swimming and Canoe Instructor for 15 years and is trained in Wilderness Medicine.
 
Tom Barrett is a mineral technologist, a draftsman and a heavy equipment operator. He began canoeing before he entered primary school and had formal instruction by age eight. He began his training in kayaking in 2000. Canoeing was a hobby, now kayaking and camping in Labrador is his way of life. Tom has Certification in BCU, Canadian Certification for Kayaking and Guiding, as well as, Wilderness First Responder training.

Brittany Barrett
Junior Guide - Brittany is the third generation of the Barretts who joined the team. Brittany has always had an interest in kayaking and in 2011 began helping "Nan" on the day kayak tours as she builds up her hours to qualify as a guide when she gets older.

Junior Sainsbury
Junior has been working in boats in the Labrador Sea since he began fishing out of Indian Tickle with his Mom and Dad as a young boy. Today he is a father, carpenter, snow mobile trail groomer, tour guide and George's nephew. He wow's the guests with his enthusiasm and knowledge of the boats and the local history.
